The high tide coincided with the sunset and the tiny church was surrounded by water

just as I wanted it. The sea state was very calm so there was almost no need for a 30

exposure, but it did allow some cloud movement.

Your thoughts and comments are always appreciated. Thank You.

Alf, such a graceful & peaceful panorama, love the great details and layers in dark, and subtle color tones, light makes nice atmosphere , elegant seascape!      Best regards

Nice Shot. Still getting to grips with my D800, however does the ISO go down to 50? All The Best Gary

I always wonder what was cropped away when I see something other than 3:2.  The rocks on the far right shore appear sharp, but the rest doesn't.  Maybe the cloud movement is playing tricks with my vision?  Composition is nice as the shed is balanced with the other elements.

Alf,  I really like the little church surrounded by water as it is.  It is enhanced by being in the distance too.  I like the long exposure - smooth water and motion in the clouds.  The motion in the clouds compliments the soft water.  Terrific light too.  I am continuously amazed at the subjects you dig up in the UK, just wonderful.  How do you find time to visit all of these places and also work?  Larry

Many Thanks for your thoughts and kind words. It was a wonderful evening I spent with my students, they had a great time as did I  and this was the last shot before leaving for home.

Kind Regards

The sun had disappeared below the horizon about 20 minutes before this shot was taken, and as is quite often the case the best colours start to appear.

Sincere Thanks & Best Regards

It was a beautiful evening, not only was I fortunate that the high tide coincide with the sunset, but a near full moon was behind me helping to balance the light and show detail in the darker area's.

Thank You so much!

Yes indeed the ISO will go down to 50. It reads as L 1.0 on your digital read out on the top right display, but reads as 50 when you display the exif information or when you right click the image and read the "properties"

Many Thanks

My Sincere Thanks!

The subject matter is one of my favourites, but difficult to get the right conditions, high tide and sunset coinciding.

Mostly sky was cropped to balance the image, but also a tiny bit of foreground that had some messy seaweed at bottom left.  Maybe your vision is playing tricks with your vision lol although I didn't use any excessive sharpening.  I don't think the Welsh parishioners of the ancient church of St Cwyfans would appreciate their historic building that has been in existence since before 1254 being referred to as a "shed"  : - ) If you look at the far end of the roof, the housing for the bell is still there, though the bell itself has long since been presumably lost in storms and swallowed up by the encroaching sea.

Cheers Jeff!

It's another little magical place and yes you are right, we are blessed with such wonderful subjects UK.  I suppose it's partly a passion on my part fro being in these places at the magic hours and this is enabled by the relatively small scale of the UK. From my home to this place takes about 2 hours by car driving at a leisurely speed.  You really should come and visit Larry I'll show you around : - )

Sincere Thanks & Best Regards

Many Thanks for your  kind words, it was in fact evening. But I do know what you mean, it was quite mesmerising and if I hadn't been showing my students the finer points of long exposures I might have missed it myself : - )

Cheers Mike!
