Thoughts on compositon,  Yes.  This needs to have the right side cropped upto or very near the tree next to the fallen log.  Those trees on the right add nothing.  By cropping you would have a natural eye leader down to the horizontal fallen bits.  well worth the effort though.  Just placing your hand over that section gives you a really nice shot.

I might have gone portrait mode, climbed on the trunk portion on the left and have a leading line into the trees.
