Landrum Kelly 64 Posted August 31, 2014 "Knockin' On Heaven's Door"Bob Dylan Mama, take this badge off of me I can't use it anymore. It's gettin' dark, too dark to see I feel I'm knockin' on heaven's door. Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door Mama, put my guns in the ground I can't shoot them anymore. That long black cloud is comin' down I feel I'm knockin' on heaven's door. Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted August 31, 2014 I lost a lot of data by saving successive JPEGs. If this or something like it works, I will have to go back to the original file, make all the changes, but save only once. The image degradation here is quite serious for an 18-mp sensor. Other post-processing options might also have led to some of the image degradation. Even noise is more obvious on a dark picture, even if it was shot much brighter and then reduced by either levels or the brightness settings. --Lannie Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted September 1, 2014 Deep dusk is such a wonderful, beautiful time of the day. I have found it the hardest time of day to capture well--at least out in the "country" where it can be the most wonderful thing to experience. It is much easier to capture in the city, but unfortunately it is not as wonderful there, and much of the wonder there often comes from the contrast between natural light and tungsten light. Nonetheless, if someone can somehow bring out the magic here without brightening it overall, I would be very appreciative to find out how to do it. I could just write this one off as having "bad light" and be done with it, but I suspect that post-processing might be able to overcome that deficiency. I am not sure. --Lannie Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted September 2, 2014 I actually did copy this and tried my hand at selective brightening. The result wasn't too bad but then I thought it might be presumptuous to post it so it ended up getting deleted. Too bad. Maybe I'll give it another shot. The picture is certainly worth continued work ,though. Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted September 3, 2014 Thanks, Jack. I have tried three or four new versions--and they are now posted in this folder. I did think that there was something here, though I am not satisfied with my own efforts to bring it out--whatever it may be. I certainly welcome efforts by others to improve my pictures, especially when they tell me what they have done, so that I can possibly apply such techniques to future photos. In some ways, I feel that I will someday start dong photography, after I learn how to do it. --Lannie Link to comment
