Uhooru 2,207 Posted August 23, 2014 This is a street photo that to me caught a certain feeling and textures one night in NYC. This is a display window for a boutique selling quixotic and expensive furnishing. How does this one strike you? Link to comment

wink_photo 0 Posted August 25, 2014 Barry. I think you saw and composed this image really well. It is erotic in my mind. One suggestion, I would crop the photo (on photo right) to make the mannequin less central in the composition. The black on the right doesn't add much to the image and I think it would increase the mystery a bit. However, it is a minor point and I think the photo is cool. Dana... Link to comment
Uhooru 2,207 Posted August 26, 2014 Thanks Dana, for taking the time and for making an intelligent suggestion. See the cropped version above. Not sure if you had that in mind. I like it, but in cropping sometimes something is added but something else is taken away. You may be right here, or maybe this isn't what you had in mind. But anyways I'm very appreciative.. olafdevries 0 Posted August 26, 2014 The left needed a small crop, the fraction on the right comming with it, is OK. At the same time the lowest small lighted shoe strip at the bottom got removed. ;) Link to comment
Uhooru 2,207 Posted August 26, 2014 Thanks Olaf. Appreciate taking the time to mess with it. Link to comment
wink_photo 0 Posted August 26, 2014 Barry. Thanks for seriously considering my comment. I looked over all versions. I think Olaf's crop is better because it preserves most of the mannequin but overall I prefer the original because I think the original length of the mannequin is perfect (i.e. I wouldn't sacrifice any of the subject to a crop). I also wouldn't sacrifice any of photo left (the reflection and neon). If you were willing to change the aspect ratio you could crop a bit off photo right (an inch or so). I will try and attach. This is just a personal preference and in general I think adds a bit more mystery or tension to the image. However, I think your original is great and a very sexy image. All the best. Dana... Uhooru 2,207 Posted August 27, 2014 Thanks Dana, I like bringing the piece closer to the edge via cropping, and I often don't mind a crop that creates a long narrow photo, I would say that for me that kind of crop doesn't look right to me. Ah well. Thanks so much for trying. Link to comment
wink_photo 0 Posted August 27, 2014 Barry. No worries. I think the original is great and also agree it is better than any of the other crops. But it was fun to play with and look at. All the best and I look forward to more. Dana... Link to comment
