Jack, however you did it, you found a sea of floating stalagmites.  I have no idea about their mineral composition, but they sure as hell are both attractive and fascinating.  This image is an excellent melange of color and shape.

Very beautiful.  It has the feel of a screen printing.  More arctic than tumultuous.
