This is quite a change of pace for you, Maestro.  To me, it not only demonstrates your craft and creativity; it also shows that you are willing to risk the anger of the rules of composition watchdogs.  In any case, the color and tonal contrasts give the image quite a punch.

I had to read your comment three times in order to quite understand it and finally I didn't get your remark about the anger of the composition rules watchdogs! What's wrong with the composition? Center positioning, symmetry or something else...?

The lighting comes from my macro ring flash and I used extension tube, so this would be also a close up photo!
