I think this Grasshopper is in the Nymph Stage and was about an

inch long in the body. I could not see evidence of wings yet. While

trying to identify it, I came across the a Packard Grasshopper which

has scattered black dots on the body and this one was very similar

but much younger. I continue to practice hand holding. My shoulder

is healing nicely but starts to ache if I spend more than an hour

searching for interesting subjects such as these :) (Thank you for any

visits and input. I can't believe it is already August!!)

Superb capture!  The detail on the grasshopper is so sharp that I can count the spots on it!

Gail,

the LARGER view works best on this image.  You have captured excellent detail in the grasshopper.  I especially like the vivid colors in the flower that the grasshopper is sitting on.  Bravo!  Glad to see you posting again.

Thank you for the encouragement!! It is good to touch base. I will be more involved as the weeks pass. I have been enjoying your recent images. Typing does not make my shoulder as sore now, as long as I don't spend too much time on the computer. :) thanks for your input, always appreciated, Gail

Glad you are getting so much better Gail! The combination of saturated yellow, deep purple and light green here, is very appealing. I like the selective focusing, as well...greatly revealing the little fella's body details. Hope you enjoying summertime. Cheers!
