Landrum Kelly 64 Posted August 1, 2014 This was made about fifteen minutes before sunset. It appears a bitdarker here than it actually was, due to adjustments in levels, etc. I was trying to capture the mood here and not just the colors. Thesky was astonishing, and the light on the trees was gorgeous, but Icannot seem to show that here to anywhere near the same effect as whatI saw. Comments welcome.--Lannie Link to comment
AmyHelmick 0 Posted August 1, 2014 I like the inclusion of that little patch of warm light from the porch. It speaks to comfort and shelter from the elements, quite literally. That bit of light goes a long way towards capturing the mood, if even by contrast, I think.Amy Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted August 1, 2014 Thanks, Amy. Something about it reminds me ever so slightly of a picture you made of the outside of a house near dusk about Christmas time some years back, I believe. It might have been the first shot of yours I ever saw. There was something truly warm about that shot. Here the effect was secondary to getting the sky and the light on the trees, but, as so often happens, I came away with more than I was after. I have indeed sometimes made shots for the sake of deliberately capturing the contrast between the tungsten-lit interior and the bluish-lit exterior. I love the contrast when it is done really well. I knew that the tungsten would be there in this shot, since I am familiar with this view, but it did turn out a bit more warm than I anticipated. --Lannie Link to comment
