Quite apart from the obvious charms of this portrait, I can't help thinking her expression reminds me of medieval illustrations of the saints. Excellent work.

She is a dream made of marble, the natural light on her skin seems like the perfect reflection on a renaissance sculpture, her hands drawing delicate lines on the air, her fine taille de guêpe turning to the left and her indecipherable gaze works like an irresistible gravity force crushing the mind of the observer. The background adds a lot to the romantic atmosphere she is creating for us. The way you've managed the light, I mean, her resplendent pale figure against the dark background, is a master class for me. Chapeau monsieur!

Thank you friends, Peter and Alberto, much appreciated. Sweid, your analysis and description add a poetic touch to the picture which though certainly merited by the model goes well beyond my modest contribution. I am very grateful, thank you.

I have to go along with the other comments and say that I love the sculptural quality of the way her skin is rendered in this light. Her pose, especially her hands, support that feeling well. This is such a wonderful creative collaboration.

Seven! This is maybe your best by my taste! The pose, the expression, the leaning to baroque environment and Rembrandt colors...I simply love it! Congratulation maestro!

Best regards

I am going to disagree with Pierre's characterization of the color, it looks more like Vermeer than Rembrandt.

The darker, more saturated color coupled with the model's skin, eye and lip lighter less saturated color gives this image a very strong color and tonal contrast which causes exceptional visual tension . It is interesting that my eye is not drawn to her eyes as strong as it is in much of your other work. This also enhances the visual tension.

This exceptional image could be hung with work by Vermeer and Rembrandt. Definitely one of the best images on Photonet.

Kudos to you both.

Mark, Pierre, thank you very much.

Jim, sometimes the conditions converge in such a manner as to give a better result than others. The window light on an otherwise cloudy day was just right at that moment, as was the model's pose and expression. Many thanks for your support which is much appreciated.
