Wayne Sadler 562 Posted July 16, 2014 This is kind of busy for a macro, but I had to include many areas of this image to tell the story I saw. (I think the flower is some type of phlox.) Comments and critique welcome. Link to comment

Laura Weishaupt 3,780 Posted July 17, 2014 Hi Wayne,Yes, this is Phlox paniculata, your basic garden Phlox. It's a pretty flower to photograph and you got the color nicely. The buds going diagonally across the frame are appealing with their soft swirls. One thing you may want to consider when framing these, is to look for spent blossoms and remove them with tweezers. Sometimes that's easier said than done. They're easy to miss when you're concentrating on other things. The flowers in your portfolio are very nice. Link to comment
Wayne Sadler 562 Posted July 18, 2014 Patsy,This a little different from what I normally try with macros. I saw the distant out of focus elements as part of the story and tried to frame them as such. Link to comment
Wayne Sadler 562 Posted July 18, 2014 Laura,Thanks for the comments and information. I admit I often count on members to help me with identification of flowers, birds, insects, etc. In this situation, this one spent flower became a major part of the story. (I though first of using the title "beauty and the beast") Link to comment
