Landrum Kelly 64 Posted July 15, 2014 Shot looking down from a bridge over the Pee Dee River near Albemarle,North Carolina. The plant is common sumac caught at an uncommonangle. Comments welcome.--Lannie Link to comment
cegeiss 6 Posted July 17, 2014 I love the uncommon angle and the resulting symmetries, but what really drew me in were the grayish, somewhat desaturated leaves with the brighter tips, and the dark green backgroundAlso, the PeeDee river must be close to the PeeDee formation, the source for a stable isotope standard widely used in geology.Christoph Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted July 24, 2014 Thank you, Christof. Yes, there is something about those "grayish, somewhat desaturated leaves," etc. I shall have to look into the origins of "Pee Dee" for the isotope. I was not aware of that isotope nor its uses, much less why it got the name of a river. --Lannie Link to comment
