many thanks for sharing. It's very sad to hear/read in the news that Israel is suffering from attacks from various sides.

Dear Pnina, I think we would all like to see much more of this "other side of Israel". The sad thing is, that daily pictures from the region show us the less humanitarian side of reality, which is as important and more urgent to know of.

Thanks for expressing your point of view, it is 14! years that the south of Israel is living under missles. Just a short time ago, Israel was mourning the murder of the 3 innocent children ( the revenge of the Israeli extremist is condemed as well as is extrem European left).

BTW, I live very close to Tel Aviv,Yesterday at 2am! there was a red alert, and we have had to enter fast to the special room.

Wolfgang ,I wonder if the European media is showing what Hamas did with the tunels, it is unbelievable how much money, toughts, as well as planing and work they have invested in these tunels (a whole under ground Gaza that starts in there and finished in the Israeli south ),instead of investing it for better life to its citiezien. ..

Just in case my previous post was too unclear, what I meant was that an Israeli soldier helping an elderly Palestinian is not the exception, it is the rule.  Israel as a nation, and the IDF as an arm of Israel, does not target civilian populations.  Why else would Israel warn residents of Gaza with leaflets and phone calls before conducting air strikes?

yes, there are reports about the tunnels (and the challenges they mean for the Israel army) in German media. All-in-all my impression is, that reports tend to take a position of compassion with victims in Gaza (i.e. the civilians - not the Hamas). Here's an article in a major newsmagazine in english: http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/suffering-in-gaza-strip-increases-as-war-drags-on-a-983260.html.

Some days ago there was a comment of the current chairman of the Central Council of Jews in Germany published in another major newspaper (I think it was Frankfurter Allgemeine), that I found very interesting, because it outlined Isreal's position in a well comprehensible way (here is an english translation).

Yet, from the distance, it's very hard to judge the situation, because usually only the 'big' (i.e. most atrocious) events make it to the headlines (likewise primarily the extremist voices on either side are quoted).

Thanks a lot for the 2 links which I have read carefully. The German one tells in details the suffering of women and children,(which is very true), but much less the details of the 14 years! of thousand missiles and rocketes ,with many tunnels ,a huge amount of people's life between one RED ALLERT to another.

HAMAS is using the hard photos of the children in every media 'let alone their own!

The short time to arrive to shelters and Hamas trying to capture an Israeli soldier(which today they have probably captured one after they agreed to a cease fire.(the5th or 6th one they have agreed to, but could not restrain from sending missiles...and brake the cease fire.

MR.Graumann is better explaining the situation with a good exsmple of the alarm in Cologne !And the right of Israel to defend its citizens.

The Isaeli, find of the tunnels system, 33 ! ,till now, very developed ,with a lot of planing !, about 35m deap! and a very long ones about 2km long! with many side section, with a lot of enterances. All of them with very thick walls. All the tone of concrete was sent by Israel......to help them reconstract the buildings..

and not only that, but Israel have sent food, medicines and other nessecities needed for better life in Gaza.

This is a very short explanation of the hard time we are having.

as PN does not letting me to uploads photos(please see the last photo thread)

I do it at FB.

One of the members wrote me this sentence:

"Apparently the Hamas missiles are harmless "toy rockets" so the Western media think you should just ignore them"....

And here is my answer :

Rae,they are real missiles and a lot of them,we were lucky that about some years ago there were another man that was the security minister, the Iron Dom was discussed, and as it was a great deal of money the majority was negative, but he was firm to invest the money needed, and it became a great success! With a lot of preparations of defending room ,and RED ALLERTS as well as army warning to enter the shelters, has saved our country from a great disasteres.

Can someone anticipate how much money the Hamas invested in the tunnels? about 33 tunnels with a lot of planing. While I'm writing to you there was two RED ALERTS...a journalist that was today in some of the new tunnels what she has said: it has to be seen in your own eyes...in the meantime there were anoter red alert, and this time the IRON DOM did not catch the missles, and it was a strieght one! 6 wounded ! 2 severly wounded ! a big fire!

Hamas is working hard to show the wounded children( which they really are) but HAMAS is to blame as they are telling them not to leave! A small group that tried to critique HAMAS,were mersiless killed .The hauses are full with ammunitions as well as the enterances pires to the tunnels are ( just one evidence) found in a very ellegant shower room...Jast yesterday we have the" honor "to get 120! "toy "missles and rocketes.

Wolfgang,it is at the "tipe of finger" what Isreal is passing. Yesterday evening Israel has agreed to a cease fire,.

This morning HAMAS sent a suicide bomber, and captivated a young soldiers, and have killed two!

I think that HAMAS has crossed a RED LINE!

many thanks for your reply. Living in a country that enjoys peace since WWII it is probably impossible for me to imagine how it is to live under a constant threat like you currently. I see your point (and I have no doubt that Hamas is primarily a terrorist organization following a sick logic to maintain their power).

Recent news are not too promising - still, I sincerely hope, that situation will improve soonest and there will be no more red alerts.

Thanks for your answer..We are still having about 80-90 missles and rockets every day! the south of the country is still having the most of them . The center of the ciountry

(Tel Aviv area that I live at as well) has had a RED ALERT at 6 am in the morning....unbelievable.

Many of the women and children from the south could not stand

it any longer( 14 years) and left to the norh of the country.

Sorry to say that I don't see the end so fast.!

Though there are many nations who do not like that Israel should live in peace, but the history tells us that Jews will survive and flourish, against all odds and sufferings.

This what Winston Churchill remarked,

"Some people like the Jews, and some do not.

But no thoughtful man can deny the fact that they are, beyond any question, the most formidable and most remarkable race which has appeared in the world."

I also remember what John F Kennedy said,

"Israel was not created in order to disappear- Israel will endure and flourish.

It is the child of hope and the home of the brave.

It can neither be broken by adversity nor demoralized by success.

It carries the shield of democracy and it honours the sword of freedom."

This is a very moving image , Pnina.

Dear Pnina: Thanks for share with us these photos and your thoughts. When I see these news about war and suffering I just feel sad...life is too short and the world is only "one place" sailing in the universe...we should live all in harmony and peace and enjoy the miracle of life...I hope that better days will come very soon for your people and for all that region! Warm regards.

Thank a lot for your word and thoughts. Yes, it is a very hard time for us now.,

not easy at all. Today again, a massive missiles and rockets sent to the south ( more then 100 )! and a 4 years old little boy was killed. let alone all the young soldiers.

Hamas killed today in public ! (and not for the first time )17 of their own people, accusing them of co'operation with Israel, without even letting them to express their own side.

What Israli citizen can not uderstand is , how come that Europe,UN,and all thse"human rights" and others ,are not 'reading" the right situation and accusing Israel , which what the country is doing ,is defending its population.

When they will at last uderstand it, ,the terror groups like Da'ash, Hamas, Hisbulla and other Jihadist groups will not be "only" Israel's problem. And we hope it will not be too late.. as right now Isael is the first defending line for the world!
