Larger view preferred. This Lago Titicaca image was taken just

before dark decended on Puno. I violated the rules by splitting sky

and water in half, but I actually think this is advantageous here. The

texture of the water and simplicity of the image appeal to me. What

do you think about the image? Thanks for taking the time to

comment. Larry

Hello Larry.

I like your picture. The composition gives the feeling of an endless lake. The colors with the yellow and all the blue works fine. Does all the blue come from "the blue hour" time of the day or is it just the computer of the camera that works that way ?

Guillermo and Tommy,

Thanks for your visits and comments.  Sunset in Peru is early.  It gets dark around 6PM.  This image was taken about 5:30 - 5:45, so it is the blue time of day, perhaps slightly before.  You mention the limitless look of the lake.  This is true and one of the reasons I like the image too.  We spent one full day boating on the lake without even nearing the other side.  Titicaca is the highest lake in the world and the largest in South America.  Regarding any possioble blue cast from the camera,  my first step in processing raw images is to remove the blue cast by adjusting the white balance.  Thanks again for your comments.  Larry

I think the 50 / 50 split works well too, and I love those clumps of grass that reach out further into the image. I'm not sure what the shutter speed was but there seems to be some kind of movement in the lower right foreground, and although that can sometimes bring an image to life, in this case I'd prefer it to look static. It looks like an amazing location though, the type of place I could spend endless hours!

Nice work Larry !

Best Regards

good that it's a 50/50 composition, works nicely for this frame, with the clumps of grass/reeds leading diagonally through. Blissful serenity.

Subhadip,  Thanks for your visit and comment.  I used this image in a Blurb book that I just completed, and it looks great as a two page spread.  Larry

Lev,  Many thanks for your visit and comment.  I was fortunate to be in a hotel with a pier across the street that enabled me to go out at sunset.  It was actually quite cold and windy.   Larry
