LineMartel 6,260 Posted July 6, 2014 I actually had to remove this image from rating as the average was below 4.5!!! Some sad people out there sharing their anger at the world I guess. If this is below average, I don't know where to take it next... But I like this image and know the work that went into it... and I am pleased you can appreciate it. So, I reposted it for comments only... Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted July 6, 2014 I don't see how this can be improved, it's perfect. Ignore the ratings, this is a 7... Mike Link to comment
jmontgomery 0 Posted July 6, 2014 Very nice as always ... as to some of the ratings ... maybe this frightens some on PN! Never seen such a critter :-) Link to comment
jmontgomery 0 Posted July 6, 2014 Okay ... I had to look these critters up ... and now upon reflection of your image, I see that this is a side image of two of these critters (duh ... you do say chaferS). So this was double the risk of your normal shots since either could have moved and affected your composition :-) Link to comment
LineMartel 6,260 Posted July 6, 2014 Oh... They do move. Thus the extra work involved in selecting the shots, adding manual stacking and masking... Link to comment
dave_dise1 0 Posted July 6, 2014 Great image!!! 7/7!! Could not be improved.IMO macro shots don't get great ratings in general, but those of us who have tried to get macro shots like this appreciate the effort and skill it takes. I truly admire your skill and effort to get this result. It really is a world we don't get to see in detail this image provides. Link to comment

krpradu 125 Posted July 8, 2014 Line,it doesn't matter if some angry people gives low rate for this,is true that make us feel disappointed seeing this. But look at this composition,is excellent composed, very well and carefully focus chosen and all with a very nice bg soft colors, what to expect more from this.Beetles design is so nice and looking better how interesting is flower long elements with beetle legs position, like a play of nature harmony.I am curious about how many shots did you do to composed this? Is just perfect, nothing more. Link to comment
LineMartel 6,260 Posted July 8, 2014 Thank you all for your kind words and appreciation. Although bad raters can be disturbing, it is somewhat like if someone who does not like Italian food volunteered to judge on the best execution and tasting Italian dish... everything would be bad to them! Although at times I am unsure of the value of some of my work, most of the time I know where I stand and would not post if I thought It was not worthy of any appreciation or had not a solid base worth input on improvement. At the end of the day, the important thing to me is to share my vision of the world surrounding us and hopefully to render an artistic vision of it.Thanks again, Line Link to comment
LineMartel 6,260 Posted July 8, 2014 My first thought was also rodeo! I almost titled it, but thought that I was probably seeing it that way only because of my Texan surroundings... lol Link to comment
LineMartel 6,260 Posted July 8, 2014 I did an auto stack of about 6 frames. there was leg movement and the slightest movement on something this small is transferred almost like a meter... so I manually stacked another 3. It is not unusual for me to shoot 100 frames when I find a good subject (making it a nightmare to chose the best series). Stacks vary depending on the angle you shoot from as little as 3 frames to as much as 15 or more. This is a lateral view so less frames are needed. Link to comment
