Large view preferred. This image might also be classified as a

documentary because the journey and the impact of the railway on

the daily lives of people and the economy of the towns through which

the train goes may be more important than the image quality of the

photos. The railroad is the road and the economic engine for this

market in Sicuani, a whistle stop on the Andean Explorer. I

appreciate your visits and comments. Thanks. Larry

Congratulations on a fine image.  The tracks provide leading lines that enable a viewer's eye to travel the length of the market and end in the mountains.  The detail is tack sharp, and the colors are rich and vivid.  One small nit - - I'd like to see more detail in the dark area in the right front.

My best,

michael

Michael,  Thanks for your visit and comment.  I actually opened the shadows on the right front dark area. I had it more open and then scaled back.  I will try opening it more on a duplicate of the image before printing this image in the Peru book we are publishing with Blurb.  Thanks.  Larry

Hi Ross,   Thanks for looking at my Peru images.  There's an element of luck in capturing an image from a moving train.  This one worked out well.  I appreciate your comment.  What's the verdict on that messy bedroom shot of yours?  (LOL).   Larry

You've done a great job here, Larry. I love this picture! I like the perspective, the train tracks, and the way that lead us to the mountains and this magnificent sky. In Lima we have a mostly gray sky, and when we go to the "Sierra" what we like to see are the magnificent skies, with white clouds of cotton. I see you've used the aperture priority program, but I think in the case of motion it would be  better to use speed priority, and play with the iso. In a moving car, usually fixed the speed at 1/400s or more.

Regards,

Rosario.

Ray,   Thanks for your visit and comment.  I don't think we've had the chance to view one another's images before, so I look forward to viewing your portfolio.  Thanks again.  Larry

Hi Rosario,    Thanks for chiming in on this image.  I appreciate your compliments.  I will try to use your advice about shutter speed priority.  Usually, I choose manual priority, but in a moving train, I just wanted to shoot the images quickly without fussing with details.  I can see why shutter speed would offer more control than aperture.  We did experience the gray skies of Lima as we stayed in Lima at the beginning and end of our trip.   Many thanks.  Larry
