fotograf 0 Posted September 28, 2003 How did you get a black & white shot from VELVIA? Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted March 1, 2005 Walter, My favourite of your posts. Good decision to desaturate. This very nicely composed scene is now reduced to it's basic elements of tone, textures, and shapes. The backlighting is quite dramatic. The bit of what looks like flare, lower left, looks natural for a shot made into the sun and actually breaks up a rather large dark mass there. Candidate for printing in my humble opinion. Best, LM. mmmee 0 Posted February 2, 2006 I have seen your name in the Five page and so started to go through the thumbnails, not reading. Now I see why your landscapes are so colorfull (although I have not gone back to check) -- you like Velvia. I love sunspots and so I had to stop at this one to see how you shot it. It looks good in black and white. The composition is a masterpiece. Good work. I like the two sides of this story. The sunspot and the creek on one side and the hillside with the bare tree to balance. Nice drop shadow on the frame. I think it could use a bit of Unsharpen mask, it seems a bit soft, probably from the scan. Cheers,Maggie Link to comment
