We had a discussion about this shot a few years ago.  I don't know, I still like this version of yours.  It's simpler.  A fine shot with fewer elements to confuse the eye. I like it with the contrast bumped up about 10% and a bit of sharpening.  See what you think.  Best, LM.

Len;

I do not recall that discussion.

I'm attaching the image first posted in 2008 and the link to that post which has since been removed.

1. The first post is a flatbed scan of a cotton-fiber print. The second post (this post) is a scan of the negative.

2. The image in the second post (this post) was rotated slightly CW to align the horizontal lines with the frame.

3. First post vs second post: the contrast settings are different and the cropping, essentially full frame, are slightly different.

4. There were no critiques submitted on the first posting. The first posting received a higher average rating.

5. Any difference in sharpness I would attribute to the scanner.

Thank you for your input.

Can't remember?  Click on my link in my first comment.  The original must have been a good print.  These old eyes can't see a difference, at web sizes at least.  Bottom line:  a keeper worthy of wall display.  P.S. I think the # 100 is the weight in pounds of a length of rail one yard long. In case you were curious about it.  :-)   Best, LM.

Len;

Now I understand your comment above.

Thanks

On my last visit to my daughter (2013) I searched for this section of track.  Albeit it is surely there and unchanged and I was in close vicinity I could not find the section with that spike and bolt.
