very nice serene photograph with superb composition. The small figure of a person, almost "faded" into water, adds a more dramatic and interesting element to the story and a new interpretation possibility of this scene.

A beautiful composition with very nice lighting, Wolfgang!

 

This seems a somewhat symbolic picture that conveys a quiet and gently wistful mood. The long angled pier, the man barely visible at the very end; the placid sea; the fading colors of sunset - all the elements play their roles very well...except those far hills which somehow seem to specific for the iconic nature of the picture.

@Jack: yes, the hills,... in fact, I slightly burned them (maybe a tad too much) - my idea was to get a dark, slightly threatening undercurrent into the picture - something, the person on the pier may want to escape from.
