donpaulson 0 Posted September 24, 2003 The patterns on the wings of the Polyphemus moth are fascinating. This photo shows what I believe may be the intended affect: a scary face to scare away predators. This moth and about a dozen more I raised from eggs that I collected from a single female. I had to feed the bright green caterpillars fresh leaves every day until they spun their cocoons. You can see a photo of one of the caterpillars in this album. I documented the entire life cycle on film, including the adults emerging from the cocoons. It was quite an education. I even found information on the internet on how to raise Polyphemus moths. Your comments would be welcome. Thanks, Don Paulson Link to comment

leopoldo 0 Posted September 27, 2003 Don you don´t take photography lightly. Your pictures show a good sence on locations and opportunities in nature that hint a pre-conceived preparation to make a picture. Keeping moth larvae to make a picture upon hatching shows that. Great work man! Leo Garcia / Venezuela Link to comment
