alfbailey 2 Posted May 14, 2014 Love the colours and the textures, I am guessing it is some kind of rock strata that I'm looking at. It's the kind of image that makes you want to reach out and touch it! Compliments! Alf Link to comment
hyde 0 Posted May 15, 2014 Hi, Alf. Thank you for your appreciative comment. Yes, this is rock strata on a pebble beach, about fifteen metres from the sea's edge at high tide. This particular piece of rock face is actually vertical in orientation, though I preferred the balance rotating it 90 degrees to the left (hence the title). What you see here is immediately adjacent to my other images "Rock pattern II" and "Hourglass". There are several other images in my portfolio from the same beach. I know of no other place which has such a proliferation of interesting rock patterns. I have been there about eight times over the last ten years, spending maybe five or six hours on each occasion engrossed in looking for and photographing different combinations. A very relaxing experience, with the waves crashing away beside me. Over these years I have become familiar with some of the patterns and I have even been able to detect and photograph changes brought about by deterioration, pieces of rock having fallen from their original setting. Thanks again for your visit. Best regards. Link to comment
