Canon EOS 5D MKII, B+W 77mm Kaesemann Circular Polarizer, Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L USM, torch (in order to illuminate the trees / trunks), long exposure, some PP in PS. Menindee Lake, New South Wales (NSW), Australia. You're viewing dead gum trees flooded by waters of the river Darling, the longest river system in Australia, after sunset in late September 2011. A stunning starry sky could be viewed at Menindee Lake more than one hour after sunset. The Southern Cross and parts of the Milky Way appeared very nicely. A fantastic atmosphere embraced myself there. Do you manage to identify the Southern Cross and the stars accompanying it around? Thanks so much to my Asutralian friends Andrew, Thomas and Luke who took me to this very beautiful spot in the outback of NSW along the river Darling. -- International Color Awards -- The 7th Annual Photography Masters Cup (May 2014): The image "It's Full of Stars" has recently been awarded the 3rd Place -- "Honor of Distinction" -- in the category "Nature, Amateur". I feel so much honored, furthermore, I'm very grateful to the jury! Thanks so much for stopping by and your interest in the image here! Buona visione. Volker

Volker,

This should have won. Excellent vision translated superbly. Contrast between the elements really draws me in. Thanks for this one.

Wonderful scenery Volker. I like very much composition and the management of light.  It has an abstract feeling, almost poetic.  An impeccable work!

Rosario.

Thanks a lot for your time and kind notes!

Mike, your interest in my work is always much appreciated, because it's very supportive and encouraging! I contributed more if there would be (more) changes here (ratings are always not transparent yet, thus, anonymous voters can give unfair votes etc., I have mentioned to the admins / editors several times...). Other excellent photographers, such as Dirk Juergensen, have deleted all their work / left this Web thus pointing out their disappointments they have faced here over many years... Instead, they are simply active elsewhere what is a great loss for this Web and a benefit for the others IMHO.

Wolfgang, I used an effective torch to illuminate the dead gum trees. Thanks much for your interest!

I wish you all a great week!

Volker
