PeterKrenek 26 Posted May 10, 2014 A fantastic night image, Volker ! Did you lightpaint the tower ? Anyway, you chose the perfect moment, with the sky still having blue color. It provides a color contrast to the warmly lit tower. Best regards. Peter Link to comment
vbirke 0 Posted May 11, 2014 Hi Peter,Many thanks. The steeple was illuminated by floodlight, hence I was not required to apply my torches... ;) But I applied them to illuminate the dark foreground, but just a bit. However, the floodlit steeple caused some problems during PP due to the fact that the foreground was pretty dark, in contrast, the steeple appeared very bright. Fortunately, the D800 enables to handle a huge dynamic range better than any camera I purchased earlier. Even images which are 2 - 3 stops under or overexposed can be processed (recovered) in very high quality using the RAW files (e.g., pertaining to underexposed images / areas in an image there is virtually no noise after recovery as to be found yet with Canon full frame sensors) so that you think they had never been under or overexposed...
