Several thousand llamas vicunas and alpacas graze the altiplano in this National

Park that ranges from 13,500 to 21,500 feet. This is taken from the Bolivian

side of the Andes. Chile is on the other side of the mountains.

Jim, How interesting!  Is this the Atacama desert in Bolivia?  Too bad you had such a stark sky, but I suppose this is common with virtually no rain.  The hut gives the image nice human interest.  We are headed for Peru next week and will be right on the Bolivian border, but won't make it there this trip.  Thanks for sharing thisa as it has personal interest for us too.  Larry

Larry,

This is basically due east and a tad south of Tacna, the southernmost city in Peru. Also, mostly east and a tad north of Arica, Chile. Will look forward to seeing your shots from your trip. Have fun.

Jim
