You did a very good shot right in time, never seen a so kind of ''landing '',I like this line, very good choice for bw.

This is a very interesting shot. I guess you set up first and then you asked the birds to take off, right?  Great idea and a great composition.

My best regards as always.

What's this?  Such strange elements of your compositions ... water and birds!  Seriously, I do like this departure of subject ... maybe the spring and summer will help with this!

Like a aircraft team in a airshow! What did you say to the birds Laurent?...(lol) Well done my friend! Best regards.

Thank you for looking in and for the kind appreciation. You were quick to comment on this as I had barely uploaded it when I saw your observation;I wanted to explain how I got this shot but the system refused as I had obviously used up my allocation.Maybe you know this, but these cormorants, unlike the other aquatic birds,do get wet and have to get out of the water to dry up and they usually bunch up.Here they were riding on the edge of this piece of ice floating on the harbour when I spotted them;I just pulled the car on the edge of the bridge approach and barely had time to lower the window when they noticed and took off.I shot a few frames and, luckily the timing was good on this one.I attach a shot of another trio also riding the ice.

Thank you kindly. As I noted to Donna above, these were paddling to take off and I was lucky to seize this moment when they were leaving the good print in the water.

It does feel a little odd to be shooting something other than snow with some color and movement....but what is really good is that I can do this without freezing my fingers.Thank you for looking in and for the observation.

I had the same feeling when I first viewed this....aircrafts with their contrails. You,my sailor friend know full well what I told these cormorants to get them off in a hurry!Thank you for dropping by and for the kind appreciation.

This has gotten a lot of response and understandably so. How lucky of you to capture the birds at just this moment when their flight traces such an elegant pattern on the water. Lucky, yes, but as they say, luck favors the prepared.

Thank you for looking in and for the very kind observation.I took three shots of this take-off and this middle one was the keeper while the prior and after were of little interest.

The fidgety cormorants took off in unison from the floating piece of

ice sheet as soon as I was spotted approaching;the plunging POV

allowed a good view of their take-off traces. What do you think?Thank

you -Laurent
