I submitted some days ago this same photo but processed in softer

pastel tones. Here I am posting a bolder version of it. Your comments

and comparisons are highly appreciated. Thanks. Karl

Hello Karl

Nice shot and beautiful lines in the landscape. But is it on purpose, that the colors are so pale ?

Karl,  I can taste the cheese now.  I like the panoramic effect of this image.  There's a nice compostional balance with the trees - especially the lone tree in the background that creates a nice triangle with the trees at the right.  The intersecting lines of the image and variances in the tones of green are also assets in the image.  I would suggest getting rid of the blue cast.  I tinkered and did this for you as an example here.  I hope you are able to see a difference in the PN image.  Nice job - happy Spring.  Larry

Dear Tommy, Miguel and Larry, thanks for taking your time. I see that this photo attracts many viewers and invites for different interpretations. It was shot during the "blue hour" in the morning before sunrise. There was a slight mist over the rather pale fields and I liked the scene the way I saw it.

On photo.net we are used to see high contrast photos with strong colors. Most of the time this does not reflect the reality but we are used to like them this way. It is much more difficult and less rewarding to show photos with subtle tones and low contrast.

Another challenge is the white balance: What is the right color of the blue hour? Sure the gray card is not helpful as it neutralizes the special mood of the moment. Is there at all an objective representation of a particular light? It may look like a wrong color cast when we see it in another environment.

In this way, I think this photo is a good example to reflect and to experiment and everybody can create his or her favorite result.

Thanks again. Karl
