All three of these versions have a slightly different taste and something particular to offer. V.1 feels like a photo from a 1910 National Geographic; v.2 reminds me of the ruins of Pompeii, colors faded by time; this one (v.3) is probably truer to what you actually saw and in the end, I'd probably stick with it although it invites further thought. The blank white wall on the left, for instance feels distracting but offhand I'm not sure what you could do about it.

Thanks to both of you for your comments. This indeed is what I actually saw. I see so many different treatments on this site that I feel compelled to try a few of my own. However, very few seem to result in actual improvements. Could the lesson be that I should remain true to the style that has gotten this far? I think this is the case.

Yes I really like this one Jim. I love images of old doorways, and where this one has a bit more appeal is that we can see the old stairway inside and slot through to the other end of the building. Images like this make me want to explore farther. I imagine the apartments inside are in pretty poor condition as well. Can't help but wonder about the people who live in this place. I have never travelled very far, especially in 'poor areas of Countries'. I know for me it would be quite a learning experience. So many  coats of paint on this façade. Thanks for sharing this one Jim. The others have their merits due to their individual style, but I like this best. :) Gail

Hi Jim,

This is the one I prefer. It is so interesting in the many colors and layers, and I think they speak best in this version.

Very nice!

I think this one also Jim, only because it's probably truer to what you saw. Anything from that is interesting for being different, as the other two both are. Nice work on all three regardless of which people prefer.

BR,

Holger
