Handheld shot! ... laying on the ground shot! and a Better Beamer flash extender was also used with the flash - I normally set my flash to lower power (1/8 in this shot, I think).

Superb image quality and nice familial moment!

I'm saving for this amazing lense (the version II probably). Damn pricey but when I see the results it seems to be worth it.

Alain

Hi TmJ! The young birds are running from a  man with a strange camera in his hand!! (lol). Well done, nice scenario! Best regards.

Thanks Alain! I would buy the 600mm II rather than the 500mm II  from my observation of images that I've seen from those two lenses. The new 500mm II is 7 lbs and my 500mm I weight 8.5lbs, the 600mm II weght the same 8.5lbs . I think the 600mm II produces the best images ever in the Canon supertelophoto lenses.

Thanks Joaos! Very astute observation :-) ..... I was the boogieman that scare that little chick /jk . Actually,  the chicks are only 1,2 days old and they have to huddle with Mom every 10, 15 minutes or so to keep warm, I think.

Thanks Ruud! The good lighting is the result of using the Better Beamer (flash extender) with the 580EX II flash. Generally, when the background is brighter than the foreground and if I have the flash power balance with the background then it comes out well . The only drawback with the Better Beamer is that sometimes the bird's eye would be wash-out and need to be adjusted in PS.
