Thank you, all!  I've been anxiously awaiting these cute little guys and yesterday a whole flock appeared.  Sat under a balsam for awhile in the snow and was lucky to catch this one on a snow "perch".

Another sweet little bird Richard. Your patience has paid off. I don't know if I have seen one before. Perhaps I have and thought is was a different bird. Very nice detail captured. I have been enjoying these images so much.

Thank you, Gail!  There is a whole flock of them here now, but it is still snowing and cold.  Wondering if spring will ever arrive:-)

Very good catch Richard! Dark bird are inherently difficult to shoot but you got him so well with this shot that show very good details with a sparkle eye in very well presented snw as well. TFS!

Tm J, thank you!  This one was handheld and it makes a big difference, but you  have to look closely to see it.  You know.

Anyway...this was a lucky break.  I sat on the ground under a balsam tree with the camera balanced on my knees.

Fun though!
