Another Hawaii Sunset, what can I say? This is from the area called

Keokea and I affectionately call this "Oprah's View" since Oprah Winfrey

has a home and guest facilities nearby.

Hey Dom,

Love the colors and comp. Nice work.

More of the tough life on the islands, eh.

BTW, the info says you used a Nikon lens on a Canon 5D mk III... hmmm  "Hang loose..."?

Nice sunset colors, dark dominant clouds, a little bit of sea, a lonely tree, all that are just fine but what really takes this image a level higher is how the light caress the grass.

Keep shooting!!!

Good catch Steve.   I do a lot of landscapes and more than a few of the photographers I admire adapt this Nikon 14-24 lens to their Canon full frames.  Like them, I used a Novoflex adapter.  This photo is the result of my first session with it, and that was yesterday's sunset.  I think I'm in love ;-)

Michail, thank you.  The rapidly setting sun changed the lights and shadows quickly and I was lucky catching that detail.

The lone tree and the low light illuminating the grass really adds to the atmosphere here. That Nikon lens really does take some beating too!

Compliments & Best Regards

Spectacular scene and capture.  At first I thought the distant shoreline was a fog bank, and that level of detail adds interest to the shot.  The lavender flowers are a stark contrast to the weathered tree but I might would remove them since they stay in the periphery of my view no matter where I look in the image... what do you think?  Regardless, excellent stuff... Mike, thank you, I appreciate the constructive criticism.   I will certainly follow that advice.  Can't have eyes wandering, can we?

Alf, I've noticed you use that lens.  When I think of landscape photographers whose art I admire, and use that lens, you were on the list.  Your posts are always so sharp and clear.

How sublime!!!! Such beautiful sunset light kisses the landscape, beautiful and heavy cloud formations have just allowed for the sun to grace the landscape and beach below. No wonder Oprah likes it here. Just think, you don't have to be a multi millionaire to enjoy this view, just that wonderful lens and adapter to capture such a shot.

A very moving image, it has that three dimensional look about it, the way the low angle of Sunlight sculptures the grassy mounds, and the tree, I think, perfects this beautiful Earth scene that you've presented here for critique. Love the clouds as well , well timed shot, keep up the good work

If I had any criticism, it would be that image needed a little more extension on the left side or the Sun brought more towards the middle but not in the middle.

Bright sun is always a problem when the camera is pointed towards it, isn't it ? I think the Sun needed slightly larger cloud in front of it to cut 50% of that brilliant white almost distracting mass
