Thanks for viewing/comments! .. Here's a good example of 500mm lens +

36mm + 12mm extension tube which allow me to shoot around 9 feet (I

could not back up since the bird got too close and there's thick bush behind

me) .. but it also give me half or the bird sharp with the tail blur because of

shallow Depth-of-field .

Thanks Mr. Mancil! .. sometimes, I wonder if I am chasing my tail  :-)  ... it's one of those chicken and egg thing. You need long focal length to get close but then you need wide angle to get DOF and somewhere in that mess is the equilibrium ... :-) ... for you as a pilot I think it's called a threshhold ? ... before getting stall ..  :-)
