Civil rights leaders and four living presidents will gather this week to

commemorate the 50th anniversary of the landmark Civil Rights Act

of 1964. Johnson pushed the bill through against the wishes of many

in his own party in his first year as president. Thank you for looking.

I have the honor to be the first to comment on this amazing image, which matches your title perfectly.  When I first moved to North Miami Beach (in 1958), my cousins visited with their nanny, who happened to be African-American.  This amazing woman, who meant the world to me as well, was refused entrance to the Seaquarium.  Things have changed greatly, as this image attests, but we still have a long way to go.

By the way, the photo also contains a subtle element of humor.  While the man is looking at his watch, his companion is glancing at him with disapproving eyes.  Leave it to you to capture people at their best!

My best always,

michael

It is hard to believe that the 60's are 50 years ago. Time always goes by so quickly Jorge. I hope Society never begins to move 'backwards'. I don't think some people realize just how much better things are, many still hang onto old 'prejudices', it is so sad to hear of. I think Miami has such a rich blend of so many cultures. Excellent image to celebrate this occasion!

I hope you and your family are all doing well Jorge!!! kind regards, Gail
