Excellent capture, good documentary shot of how so many live. So often if offered a nicer place to be, (at least here), many prefer to stay in their little 'home'. They feel safer somehow. I can't imagine the dangers that so many face in some of the public shelters. It must be a vicious cycle. When I was a child, there was an old lady who would roam the streets with a shopping cart, going through the garbage. I knew she wasn't quite right in the head even at that age. She lived on the street. My Dad was in the Bank one day and the woman had just left one of the tellers' wickets. Dad mentioned to the tellar  - something like her circumstances being so sad. The Teller told him not to feel sorry for her, that she had literally thousands of dollars in the Bank!!!

Thank you my dear friends!  Gail what a story!  I have heard that some of these homeless people have managed to gather a substantial amount of money.  The other days on a Greek newspaper I saw that they have found the body of a homeless along with 27.000 euros hidden in his mattress...go figure!  Cheers!

As Pierre Dumas says above, 'a wonderful mess of a composition', but the story does not end there...This picture accentuates the present economic situation in Greece.

When I see a scene like this it always conjures up a saying that was often repeated by my Grandmother "There but for the grace of god go I" she would say. And it remains true to this day, as I have witnessed all too often lately a tiny twist of fate can alter a persons life drastically!

A fine photograph that so graphically depicts the trappings of the unfortunate one.

Compliments!

It is interesting how peoples junk makes artistic statements.

This image has a certain flow about it, perhaps that is why you received favorable reviews.

The lighting is what makes this work, your attention to detail makes this an artistic shot, most people would not pay any attention to shit like that you did and it worked out.
