Very nice catch, I think you did so well with such high ISO and crop. Personally, I think my Canon would or may have trouble with such parameters since from my observation Canon does not handle noise as well as Nikon (at least with the 1D Mark III & 5D Mark II that I own). TFS!

Yes, even I was surprised with this one.  The image of the 3 baby owls at 1600 iso was not anywhere as clear as this one.  So perhaps it was luck. 

Your posted images at higher iso are very nice.  I am still learning about the balance between noise reduction and clarity.  What software do you use for noise reduction?
