A small stream just meters away from its confluence with Long island

Sound. The sediments on the sand bar are mostly shells, deposited

there during the recent hurricanes.

Hi Christoph,

It is very nice how you use the stream to lead the eye through the image. Is that a bear in the upper right?? I would love to visit this park. It looks wonderful!

Timothy,

a bear - you wish - more likely a culvert. The place is called Silver Sands State Park, and it is a rather small and not very scenic park in Connecticut, within sight of the NY skyline. It consists mostly of boardwalks and parking lots, with a small sliver of beach and a salt marsh. If you look carefully, you can see the green logs it the upper right corner of the image that are used to mark the parking spaces.

The park is not great - what was great that day was the quality of the light. It was very cold and clear with light that I usually see much farther north. The colors were absolutely beautiful. So, with careful framing ...

:-)
