After a so very, very long ice time I am sure that all people there will enjoy maximum possible springtime and summer that you need for sure.I like as I said in other same photo you did that all this large space and contrast with sky clouds gives a strong feeling. But I am imagine how this feeling can be,when is a walk and easy can go to a warm safe place is a landscape-seascape to admire and feel the immensity of scene or the second is to be alone,no warm place, night that maybe will soon come and very cold with no idea were is the correct direction to go.Just an imaginative work, for sure I like the first one and do a photo there and admire the moment.

You are right! No gimmick, just a flat sheet of ice with this high spot created when the tide went down and left this buldge that gets flooded when the tide returns as the wet crown shows.I even took the polarizer off my WA lense for this walk on the ice.Glad you like.

I am happy these images generated such good feelings for you my friend.I must admit that from a distance, this is not so impressive as it is just a wide expanse of white and flat landscape;it is when you walk on it and get close to ''accidental'' faults like this that it captivates.Of course the good sky is an essential to complete the scene. What I cannot show in the image and that you would surely enjoy is the intense calm, not the intense cold, broken only by the squeaky sound of the ice as it stresses under the pressure of the rising tide and then the occasional  crack/bang under your feet when the ice conceeds to the pressure.Thank you again for looking in and for the generous observation.

Yes, it's been a cold winter all across the country.  Even the Great Lakes have frozen over by about 92%.  I like the side lighting here which helps to reveal the subtle and not so subtle details throughout.  Another great feature is the vanishing point formed by the angular lines of both the foreground elements and the clouds in the sky.  A classic look in B&W and judging from your other similar shots my bet is the colour version is a knock-out as well.  Win-win!  Best, LM.

It has been a cold year and even now, winter is trying to hold on;the sun warms things up during the day but at night,it dips down drastically....last night close to -20C.Thank you for looking in and for the kind observation. The details of white scenes like this one is easier(for me) to achieve in B/W as the color original sometimes drifts into unreal colors when tweaking to get the good details in the snow, but that goes with one's skill level.I attach a color version of a sister shot in color to see what you think.

Yah, I know about wonky colours.  Had a few shots like that myself.  Just couldn't get them to cooperate.   Your colour version is not too shabby but I agree with your decision to convert to B&W.   I would likely have done the same.  That is the superior image.  Got up to 8C (46F). today in Barrie, ON.  Perhaps the worst of the winter is behind us now.  :-)  Best, LM.
