I have tried to take photo's of waterfalls in the past and mostly with no

success, or at the least none to my liking. Last weekend I managed to

dodge the deluge of work for a couple of hours and instead faced a deluge

of water. And at last I found a waterfall that was to my liking.

Your thoughts and comments are always appreciated. Thank You!

I congratulate you on your choice of waterfalls, because it led to the creation of a sensitively rendered and artistic landscape image.  Your perspective really underscores the slope down which the water travels.  The rocks have just enough clarity and detail without being oversharpened (which is my tendency).  Best of all, the highlights in the water are delicate and revealing.

Sad to say, the only waterfalls in southern Florida are artificial.  That's OK, though, 'cause I always can turn back to marvel at this image again.

My best always,

michael

PS Have you thought about a black & white version?

Hi Alf

WOW!  Well you certainly succeeded with this image!  Viewed large it is absolutely outstanding!

I love the perspective of this composition, it is just sublime, and what an appropriate title you have given it.  The clarity and detail are just breath taking Alf ..... another one for my favorites...... excellent work Alf!

Thank you for sharing :)

Sincere compliments and warm regards

Alf, I agree, waterfalls are difficult. Not the fall of the water necessarily, but the surroundings. This is is a bit special in that there is no foliage. The lines of the water flowing among the rocks and the contrast in colours is very good. Regards, Adrienne

Great looking Waterfall!

This is very pleasing to the eye as it finds its way up to the snow and ice covered higher elevations and, then back down to the cascade of water.

There remains definition in the water that enhances the sense of flow compared to many other Waterfall photographs I've viewed.

"I like the sound as well as the view!"

At first I wanted to ask, . . . "Where's the Bear?"

If anything, . . . only a fishing Bear in frame might have made me like it even more!

Regards always,

Jim j.

Alf,

the larger view is absolutely stunning.  You found the perfect waterfall and captured it well.  Hope you didn't have to hike to far to get this shot.  Looks like it would be a serious hike for me.  The colors are beautiful and you made a wise choice with shutter speed and tripod.  Bravo!

A gorgeous location, beautifully photographed, Alf. The POV of this shot makes me wonder what's up over that ledge. Of course I'm always doing that in the mountains. Keeps me busy for days - looking over that next hill :-) Love to wander about this curque for a while. Beautiful work Alf!

All the best,
Neil

Hi Alf- A wonderful rugged landscape, just beautiful.Your POV could not be better ,a lovely little stream adding a nice touch of life to the scene.Like how the warm brown grasses nicely balance the large rugged builders. You could not pick a better spot for a break.Wish you could pack it up & ship to my backyard. Best Regards. _Ross

Under "otherwise" comes aesthetically and also the post processing which for some is technical notion! Great stuff anyway!

Best regards, Alf!

You posed a question to my comment, in your previous upload. I think the answer is yes I can see the emergence of '' your style'' when it comes to landscapes. One indicative characteristic is the very sharp, and naturally so, foreground, the non over saturation is another and it doesn't diminish the impact, by the way.

Sincere congratulations my friend ! !.

[Alf I hope that you had your wellies with you in order to centralize the stream and get that wonderful leading line to the top -:) ].

Warm regards,

Dimitris

Exposure is spot on, details are clear and visible in both the sky and shadow area.

The composition conveys a sense of depth as the stream lead towards the mountain in the background. I agree to on the shutter speed choice,  I think you found a very good balance here.

But overall, I like this picture because of the mood you managed to capture, I can feel the place as if I was there, and this is what counts the most for me.

Beautiful capture. With everything yellow outside (we have one of the heavy "hamsin" weathers, kind of sandstorm) it is very refreshing to see your shot.

Amazingly crisp and detailed.  A tripod shot, I'm sure.  The softness of the water is beautiful.

Ahhh, the beauty of being there without getting wet! I'm struck with the sense of presence, an understated landscape that becomes ever more complex as I examine the details.  Superb....  Mike

Alf,  You are a landscape artist.  This is fabulous in every way.  The motion and exposure of the water is "right on" and the detail in the image rocks - all puns intended.  The angle of view is also excellent with just the right amount of sky. Fabulous image, Alf.   Larry

Beautiful composition, almost 3D like, very very detailed. You caught the waterfall movement at just the right speed. Excellent landscape Alf, all your posting here are jewels.

Take care.
