Lovely tones, clarity and light.  Sometimes I am down by a water site like this with restrictions on how far I can go back or otherwise and often I end up with images with branches at the top being cut. I am OK with the one on the extreme left but the two in the middle introduce a bit of visual tension which can be good or bad depending on your tastes. How do you feel about them?

All the best and thanks for your valued comment on one of my ice images.

Tony,

I agree, those two little guys intruding from the top might have to go. As far as general cropping of branches goes, I can go either way. I've taken landscape images of freestanding trees that have plenty of room to breathe, but I've also cropped deliberately because I wanted to emphasize how the viewer is amongst the trees, or the trees are towering above the viewer.

This image here, like so many of my images was taken very quickly. I only had a few seconds to dash off the trail, think about it, and shoot. I also had only one lens and really needed to move on (taking pictures of cool trees was not even the secondary purpose of my visit). Interesting enough, I returned the following weekend, spent quite some at the site, and the results are not that much different. That makes me wonder whether my rapid-fire visual thinking truly produced the best shot, or whether seeing, processing, tinkering with, and liking this image, closed my eye to alternatives.
