The cold spell has just consolidated the ice sheet which should

normally start to break up at this time of the year.Thank you for your

You could always imagine it to be sand:):) This is again a great photo to give us "a feel" of the landscape.

You've created an unmistakable style, and much more than a simple style, you are doing it with an impeccable artistic talent. This astounding image reminds me our immense winter steppes, with this captivating and at the same time thrilling sense of infinite solitude. Technically perfect, this shot is a class in itself. Excellent.

Thank you for your kind appreciation. With this white blanket,it is pretty hard to tell where the beach ends and where the ice sheet starts, but it is important to know if you are going to be strolling around on it.The ice is pretty thick with the cold winter we have had, some 40 inches  in places;the ice sheet will move with the tides and you can hear it cracking, almost squeeking as it rises. As it receeds,it can be a little scarry as it will crack and fall suddenly in the void left under the sheet,so care is needed when you are out there.

Thank you for viewing and for the very/too flattering appreciation. There is some sense of solitude here as,save for my dog that I take along when it's not too cold,I am always alone on these beaches during the winter when I am out to get these images.Comments as yours really make up for the frozen fingers and jammed camera shutters.

Merci et meilleures salutations-Laurent
