I love the light and the composition. The fractal plug in spoils it for me. I've yet to see any image that benefited from this over used and gimmicky filter so the shortcoming is more with myself than with your image.

Dear Gentlmen,

Please pardon my ignorance, but what is the "fractal plug in"? If it is over used and a gimmick I should know about it so that I can join the party! :)...Seriously though, PP is not my forte and I would like to know about this.

Rick,I like the result here, first of all very good idea with this subject and way light is used as Gordon said.Mushroom texture works excellent here with fractalius filter and your settings for this  did a very attractive image. We see this world in different ways and for sure someone like this kind of work, someone no,but I think this is very good and is the chance to go farther. Is a kind to express our inside thoughts and feeling in what we do,this is my opinion. If you will see my Interpretation folder way I used fractalius is just on part of composition to have main subject as it is and create round it a different atmosphere.

all my best and good light for more excellent like this one photo

Rick, I have no idea what exactly this is, but I like it. Has quite a mystic touch. Nice colors!

Dear Rick,

So now I am up to speed on Fractalius (thank you)..I must say I assumed all this texture was part of the Mushroom. It is certainly not out of the realm of possibilities in nature to have an image such as this. So I would say the processing was quite successful and enhances this image. Nicely done!
And thanks to both you and Gordon for enlightening me!

Hi, Rick! I find it is a wonderful abstract and filter (abused may be, I don't know) works here. I always have a back thought when I use filters and sometime get upset, that the same shot with a filter is liked more, and appeals to more people - so it is kind of sells the picture ( I wish! ) - but it's the time and it is a digital world... I like the result here. Best regards, Tamara

Tamara,

I like your train of thought. In the end it's the photographers (imagers ?!?) decision on what to show.  They need to like it, after that, its in the hands of the (cold, uncaring :) ) masses to decide.  Thanks for the comments.
