Striking abstract; I'd really be scratching my head (in a good way) regarding what this is if you hadn't included a title.  The swirls and lines in the wood are very attractive.

Maybe that's sandstone rather than wood.  I've seen both with patterns like this.  In sandstone, the holes / pits would be caused by mollusks, while in wood they would be caused by insects or (in marine environments) wood-boring mollusks.

Richard, the fact that the intricate pattern is temporary randomness makes it even more interesting, IMO.
