cegeiss 6 Posted February 12, 2014 Beautiful composition. Yes, I like the fact that the stack of wood does NOT obey the rule of thirds. The grainy black and white image works well to capture this cold, damp winter scene. The detail in the larger version is already impressive, in a print I bet it would be amazing. Link to comment
andresfaya 0 Posted February 12, 2014 Thank you Christoph. Your comment helps me see something I hadn't thought about myself. Still learning of course... ;) Link to comment
cegeiss 6 Posted February 13, 2014 Well, might as well tell you what my thoughts were:I cut and split my own firewood, and a stack of firewood is all about safety and stability. A full wood shed means warm winter nights. The top of your wood stack runs almost through the center of your square image. The base of the image is another horizontal. All that makes for a pretty solid image. The barn in the background is a bit slanted (the entire thing, not just the roof), which I like because too much stability turns boring rather quickly. It's also not in very good shape, suggesting that hard times are not unheard of, and the leafless trees tell you why someone bothered stacking all that wood in the first place. So, I think your picture tells a pretty compelling story. The story you had in mind might not be the same, but I'd say that makes the image even more attractive: different people can interpret it differently.Add to that a nice tonality and great detail - and you know why I like your picture a lot! bernardfancher 0 Posted February 14, 2014 Nice textures. I like the square format for this image, as well the b&w capture which I think perfectly accentuates the details. Link to comment
Elstad 9 Posted February 15, 2014 I like this very much. All the firewood lets us know that this venerable vintage building is still in use.-r- Link to comment
