Hi Pierre! Your approach here, isolating the head in a deep black background, seems very interesting. By that means, you give extra strength to his face expression and gaze, achieving a better connection with the viewer. Personally, I get the feeling that this guy has serious mental issues...

Dear Pierre,

This is wonderful...full of life, vitality even if the head is disembodied! Also, this has a feel of, as we say in the US, "in the moment" meaning not looking back, or forward but focusing on the present.

The hat is most dashing to be sure!

Madman converted to bodyless hatman, Lol. I love your sense of humour Pierre. That said, its a superb portrait, cropping out the body gives more power against the dark background. Very detailed shot, excellent work Pierre.

Looking at him I get the impression that he is an evolved soul that knows how to make others evolve also throw pain and suffering, which is the only way we all learn, just like Fidel Castro with us! "mental issues" - h-m-m-m - I don't think so. We all know there is a fine line between genius and 'mental'' (*_*) and that face conveys genius to me.

The face I see now is much close to my surrounding and may be is easier for me to understand this Hatman – his feelings. Well, forgive me for these claims, my friend – this is too pretentious, but this is what I feel. I hope next Hatman will looks happier? Best regards.

About the fine line I don't see the matter that way, for example Van Gogh cut his ear, isn't that a completely looney business?! Yet, he was a genius! This guy also told that to some psychiatrist who said to him what you said, he said: There is no line, doc!

The lighting is more delicate than you might guess, my friend! There is a 32 LEDs ring flash and a white table lamp of 100W from the right side, exposure time 1/25 sec, f/2,8 at ISO 100! And there is a special technique to get a quite black background in the end!

Finally, I'm satisfied with the result and it's only problem to remember all that, cause there were a lot of wrong combinations!
