The moon is perfectly placed to add balance to this shot and I do like the sharp detail in the rock.  It is also interesting to note the stark contrast of the shadows from which the rocks seem to rise!

Very well done!

Definitely to be viewed full-size. Great composition, nice b&w tonality. The pic appeals to me very much.

Congrats and regards,

Tomasz

Thank you Alf and Tomasz for your kind comments. Alf, the image was taken from the campground, so I had plenty of time t watch the moon come up while cooking dinner.

Such an impressive image, especially when viewed large. I particularly like the processing. I agree with Alf's observations Christoph. You should frame this one. Sights such as this,  leave me 'breathless'.

sincere regards, Gail

Hi Gail,
Thank you for your kind comments. I did frame a similar version of this image. Somehow, the transition to jpeg made it look a bit too harsh and I posted the landscape version above.

When I first looked at this one thought came to me. You were shooting from another planet and that dot was the earth!! You have captured such surrealism of nature!!!! Very nice work!!!!

Excellent composition, beautiful details  and a very nice B&W image. However it has one problem. It is not my. Where is this mountain / place? In US or in Canada, the Rockies? With the Moon, it is a jewel on the image. I like the original framing, and in large view, a very powerful portrait of a mountain. Ok. I missed the title. Zion. The 20 minute later image is a separate composition with shadow and placement of the moon, and itself a nice image too.

Cheers.

Hi Bela,

yes, the image was taken right from our (group) campsite at the Watchman campground while we were cooking dinner. I am glad you like it.

Great image! Great tonalities & use of negative space. I love the position of the moon. It really puts this image over the top. Warmest regards, Ken
