This photo was taken yesterday morning after one of the biggest snows

of the winter on the Delaware River at Washington Crossing

Pennsylvania. I hope you enjoy this wintery scene as much as I did

shooting all day in this winter wonderland. Comments welcome. Please

wow, great light, great timing...only thing I would have done is use a ND2 grad on the bottom half and pushed the grain a stop...but that's just me ;p Great shot!

Thanks, Mike. I had an ND filter on my other camera and Sigma 50mm f/1.4 lens, but didn't use it for this shot. This shot was taken with my 7D and the Tamron 18-270mm that I won in the Photo.net Holiday Photo contest. I've been giving that lens a good workout this month. It's a nice walking around lens, very light. I was using Highlight Tone Priority trying to get as much detail as I can out of the snow. I don't yet have an HD filter for this lens as most of my other lenses are much larger.

I very much like the texture, light, and disrupted reflections on the water. It seems as if that part could have been painted by Monet.

I really think this is a beautiful capture Mark. I'm glad to hear you are getting good use out of the lens you won (congrats BTW). I really like the reflections on the river. I am guessing that there is water on top of ice??? Lovely Winter scene that would look great in print!

Beautiful scene, especially with ice floating on the water.  When I scroll the image up on my screen to essentially eliminate the sky, I like that composition as well.
