In the valley

About this place is a legend that says King Solomon, whilst escaping

from the pursuers, went into hiding in this region of Brasov. His

horse is said to have leapt from the peak of one rock face to the

other thus straddling a distance of about 50m. The rider however was

not so fortunate and plummeted to his death and only the Kings crown

reached the other side. This myth perhaps explains the old German name

for the City of Brasov - Kronstadt, meaning Crowned City. The King`s

untimely death is also linked to a curse placed on him by his mother

for murdering his own brother. When it comes down to who inherits the

heir to a throne, sibling rivalry takes on a whole new dimension.
