This Abstract was made by taking one image and duplicating layers,

using various blending modes, the CS6 Oil Paint Filter, and Effects. I

will include the Original Image for you to see where the image

began. I did not layer any other image with this one. The original

image was not one of the best, thus my decision to try an Abstract.

(any visits or comments are always appreciated, kindest regards,

Gail)

Many thanks Warren, I do appreciate you visits always. We are supposed to go down to -35c tonite, I hope you didn't get too much snow the other night. We got snow overnight. In places the drifts were higher than our Snow Blower.

Hi Gail,

Again you demonstrate that fine Art and Abstracts can start with a very good image shot at F/2.8,

using your very good Canon 100 mm F/2.8 macro lens.

I know that we have discussed how sharper imagery with better contrast works when you do layer other images together.

Your talents are excellent and I look forward to that telephone call from you ( recall, you offered) such that you can walk me though some specific techniques that you use in Elements 11 !

Warmest Regards, Mike

Hello Gail,

I find it not only interesting but also amazing how you can go from that original to the abstract. It looks like a lot of time well spent. The colors are strong and vivid yet there is a softness to them(texture). Lovely work Gail. The original looks like a fine image, perhaps with a little lightening and closer crop, provided there is enough detail there , it could really pop. Just a thought. Take care.

BR,

Holger

Albeit your explanation, it's quite obvious that the creation of this abstract was labor-intensive, but a labor of love.  The patterns in the center are hypnotic, and I'd like to try using them for meditation or maybe just for the purpose of losing myself.

You keep pushing the boundaries of how to create this type of image.  I looking forward to riding along with you.

My best always,

Michael

PS  Try "fixing" your original.  I think it has a great deal of potential.

Wow! Impressive work and has meaning! You are so good at all this - I never could learn it. It is a great idea (and very nice of you) to show the original image - blows my mind away! A great idea how to spend these cold days.... Warm hugs, Tamara

I tried in vain to find the origin in the pattern ! I thought Elements was your editting Softwear . Don't know anything about CS6 , is it worth the price ? Good abstract , I wonder if you could use it again in one of your Montages . Just a thought . Bill

I'm normally not much into Abstract works of art. Oh yes, I'll definately view them and usually a quick "that's nice" thought goes through what little mind I have left!

Never really studied one to try and figure out how they were done! Always knew in many there was usually some similiarity to looking through one of the old Classic Kaleidoscope toys and the prisim image they projected or presented the viewer.

Now this! . . . this is much more interesting and fascinating! Even more so for me that it originated from a form of nature!

This is going to my favorites so I won't have to look far to find and study it!

Cheers & warm wishes for these Winter days!

What a lovely and welcome critique! I really enjoy working on these compositions.  Usually I'll use an image that I am not as pleased with re: sharp focus etc. but there are still interesting elements. It takes time and patience, and doesn't always work out. But I enjoy the process. Anyone who has Photoshop can do it, using your transform tool, layers and blending modes. However, I did use the Oil Paint filter on one of the layers. I believe it is only in Cs 4 and 6. I do enjoy the kaleidoscope appearance some of the compositions have. For glad yond enjoyed this one!

Thanks so much for your input and encouragement Jim! Cheers for now, Gail

I occasionally use Elements, but I upgraded to Cs 6 for a very reasonable price last year. I would never have afforded the regular price, but I really enjoy using it! I find it much faster than Elements or even Cs5. Still learning but have found many great Tutorials. There are some good introduction Videos to it on Adobe. Good to know you enjoyed this one.

Talk soon, Gail
