Cold colony!

A new fishing cabin has just arrived on the ice and the owners are

setting up despite the biting cold(-16C & windy).Thank you for your

Yes they are a tough bunch.These guys are for the most part fishermen(active or retired) and they do this for fun in their off-season.I have attached a few more close-ups of these as they are cutting the hole with a chainsaw and with the cabin waiting to be shifted over the hole.I did not stay very long as I wasn't properly dressed having stopped just for a look when these guys happen to arrive with their cabin.I will have more shots when it warms up some.As I write,it's -23C and feels still colder with the wind-chill factor.

Beautiful image Laurent. You made a sacrifice by braving the cold weather to take this photo and it has paid in your result. Exposure of the snow is well handled and the snow is white not grey. Nice composition too. This photo gives us a clear picture of the tough life these people lead. Well done.

Thank you for viewing and for the kind observation.No sacrifice for me as this is normal,only for this I should have gone to the house for better clothing and I could have stayed longer and captured all the steps of the installation.And also normal for these fishermen whom are doing this for leisure in the off season.....but they are tough individuals like these two whom are aged 65+.

Hi Laurent, thanks for showing us the process of putting up the fishing shacks, chainsaw, 4 wheelers with tracks and the fishing hut. Are you familiar with Garrison Keillor with the radio show "Prairie Home Companion" from Minnesota? He says that there is no such thing as cold weather, only inappropriate clothing!

There is some truth in what Mr.Keillor says about the inappropriate clothing,but don't go tell my camera shutter when it jams and the batteries when they drain as if there were holes in them and my camera hand for that matter that it's not cold.I would gladly invite him or anybody on the bridge deck when it's -25C or colder with a good NE wind off the harbour that takes the tuque off your head ,brings tears to your eyes and makes you grateful for AF to repeat that there is no such thing as cold weather.......but,I am not complaining,just not agreeing.
