Landrum Kelly 64 Posted January 20, 2014 These silos are almost in downtown Newton, North Carolina, just acouple of blocks east of the courthouse square. Commentswelcome. --Lannie Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted January 20, 2014 You seem to have two sides, Lannie, the documentarian and the interpretive photographer (well, it's not really that cut and dried, obviously there's a bit of both in all your photographs, more a matter of emphasis). I really like the composition here, the massive columns of the silo rising up like some colossal monument, dwarfing the everyday world below. Shades of Ozymandius. Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted January 21, 2014 Jack, when I got my first digital camera twelve years ago this month, I saw my long-term project as documenting the passing of the Old South. In some ways I don't think that I have changed my emphasis very much, except that now I simply document change--there isn't that much of the Old South that is much in evidence any more. I wish that I had shot this with a better lens. --Lannie Link to comment
AmyHelmick 0 Posted January 21, 2014 Lannie, I really like the your framing here. the roundness of the columns is the striking element in this piece to my eye. They hang there like huge cement curtains with a ladder for edge lace.Who knew one could do so much with cement? Congratulations on this one.Amy Link to comment
