Not Here 93 Posted January 18, 2014 You and that 80-400 continue to work well together. There are many days when I wish I'd kept mine... Mike Link to comment
rarmstrong 0 Posted January 19, 2014 Mike,Thanks! There is a new version with AF-S that should be easier to work with, but it is about $2700.I have been able to deal with the slow AF. The glass is very good, the AF is very slow, however, with the D300, I'm getting a 600mm equivalent for about $1700.What I would love to be using is the D800 with the Nikon 600mm f4, VRII, AF-S, but there we are looking at a $2700 body plus a lens that would set me back about $11,000.That would take some significant marital negotiations:-)So, maybe in the future, not yet.Good to hear from you, always!Dick Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted January 19, 2014 LOL, some things are universal (no offense to the ladies of PN). I'm still recovering from a strap failure that resulted in $300 repair/calibration to my D700 and $600 repair/calibration to my 24-70 lens, so new equipment will have to wait until this is a memory. Have a great weekend.... Mike Link to comment
