C&C appreciated. What do you like about it? How can I improve it?

Your edited version posted with your comments is OK. Thanks.

A really nice result for your efforts.  And done in the traditional (film) way with a hefty camera and, no doubt, even heavier tripod to steady things down.  Looks like a cold morning to boot.  Kudos for all those.  No suggestion as to how to 'improve' the shot except to say that I may have framed things a tad looser.  Artistic license comes in to play here.  It all depends on your reasons for doing what you did. Whatever, thanks to your composition and soft lighting, I think this one would make a nice print.  Best, LM.

I wouldn't change a thing on this composition -- it's very nicely framed.  I would try to do a second composition that included just the structures and some surrounding vegetation in the background.  It would be a completely different photo; those small buildings have potential, IMO.

Thanks Len, Stephen and Wanghan:  Yes the colors were very peaceful and quiet - just what I wanted to project.   Actually, even more so in Lightroom but the transmission to Photo.net added a slight contrast.  The picture is a little tight.   But opening it up would have included the house, so I sacrificed it.  What do you think?  (Note the picture above is before I leveled it slightly so you lose some of it afterwards.

The tight crop of just the houses are interesting.  See below.  I don't know if I have enough real estate in the negative though for a decent size picture.  But here it is -vertical crop.

I hope I'm not overdoing this but I figured one more.  This one opens the right side and clones outs the extra leaves at the edge.  What do you think compared to the original?

The looser crop is what I had in mind though I now understand why you decided on the original crop.   You had a perfectly good reason for the way you did it though, for me, including part of the house wouldn't be a deal breaker.  The beautiful thing about medium format is the cropping options it allows.  Many pictures within the picture.  I really like the vertical crop too.  Proves my multi option point.  Best, LM.

Me? I'm liking the original way you cropped this most lovely image. Nice pink glow from the low setting sun. I always assume the sun is setting because even though I'm often up before sun rise, I'm never out making images in the glow of morning. It takes quite a bit of caffeine to get me going in the morning :=}

Such a simple photo and such an incredible lesson in composition. I love the photo and really enjoyed following the discussion.
